In the Eastern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne the mantra is educating the whole child whilst acknowledging the importance of literacy and numeracy development in articular. Powerful international research from Professor John Hattie now at the University of Melbourne suggests schools focus on three things.
-- Teachers must know their impact on student learning – this will involve meaningful assessment - though not necessarily external standardised tests as in Shanghai.
-- Teachers must provide challenging learning opportunities for students. That is, learning that is at the right level of challenge
-- Teachers must provide quality, ongoing feedback on student work to drive improvement.
Wheelers Hill Secondary College joins the Scouts to be one of the first schools in Victoria to pioneer a new collaborative fundraiser to provide extra resources for its educational programs.
We have signed up for the Our School raffle - a project that brings together Scouting and schools to run a large-scale State-wide raffle with big prizes.
The second hand uniform shop will be open on Thursday 17th May and Monday 4th June from 1pm to 3pm.
We thank our volunteer parents who have kindly offered to open the uniform shop on alternating Mondays and Thursdays to provide more opportunities for the purchase of second hand uniform.
