Middle School Matters

Term 3 is off to a strong start in the Middle School. In the main, students have come back keen and ready to learn with an optimistic and positive attitude towards their studies which has been great to see.

Academic achievement was celebrated at the College assembly, with the 11 members of the 400 club from last semester publicly recognised in front of the whole student body. Congratulations to Year 9 students Stephanie Nestor, Vinh Nguyen; Year 8 students Cameron Fry, Laura Kelly, Tayla Morris, Alisha Lee, Rhea Sinha; and Year 7 students Isabelle Jones, Indya Arendse, Alex Lo and Syyen Lu.

At the College assembly, students were invited by Ms Ghirardello to consider how they could challenge themselves to take their learning to the next level. I extend that challenge to Middle School students this semester. Take on board the feedback that you have been given by your teachers and consider how you can make the most of the opportunities offered to you at WHSC.

Looking ahead, Year 9 students will be participating in their ‘Pathways’ day on the 31st July. This will give them the opportunity to start thinking about future careers. This thinking is also extending to Urban classes, where students are focusing some of their work on a theme of their choice. Through this, they will be given the opportunity to investigate pathway options in class and see a variety of occupations up close.
