From the Principal

Our Professional Learning Day on April 26 was very successful. Groups of teachers were able to commit some significant time to reviewing the progress of our Extension and Enrichment Program and consider and plan for its development into Year 8 in 2014.

Domain areas focussed on planning units of work across all levels, ensuring that we are meeting one of our own WHSC Essential Practices: providing examples of excellence and teaching the process and skills required to enable every student to achieve their best outcome. We were also able to build our skills in using learning technologies to enhance student learning. We have very few opportunities to work together in large teams and the professional interaction and development of skills, knowledge and resources is always very much valued.

Anzac Day Ceremonies

On Friday the 19th of April, we had a special Anzac Day Ceremony with our Middle School students. Our special guest was Peter Bright, Vietnam War Veteran, who provided an excellent insight of his experiences and thoughts associated with conflict and war. We also had Middle School students directly involved on the day with Robert Mitchell compering the Ceremony, Andrew Cloosterman and Brooke Laffan providing some readings and Aaron Lygris and Keeley Brereton laying a wreath – they all played a terrific role on the day. Our Middle School students were very attentive and respectful throughout the ceremony.
